Dear Lawyer

Dear Lawyer,

I am writing to ask you for considering any possibility for legal action
to comfort my mental and physical sufferings caused by an action of the Japanese man
and his father under the laws of XXXXX.

I was working as a hostess in a nightclub named “XXX” in Japan from year 2000 to 2001.
During my career in Japan, the man named Y was one of my regular customers.
He came to the place more than 10 times during the period.


One day, which was December 2000, he brought his son,
Y1 to the place to introduce him to me.
After the occasion, the son contacted me several times by telephone.
I dated with him in Tokyo several times and he came regularly to the place to meet me
during my stay after first contact.

I finished my contract with XXX and went back to XXXX in December 2001.
And at the same time, Mr. Y1 came to XXXX and we got married in a Church

I was worried about his family’s acceptance of our marriage
since his father is the president-CEO of a famous computer wholesale company in Japan.
Before we got married, I asked him, whether our marriage has already been accepted
by his family or not.
He confirmed he have already got the approval from his father.
The report of marriage was registered in the municipal government office
as of December 25 2001.

In February 2002, I together with Mr. Y1 came back to Japan and
we started to live together in his apartment house.
Right after we began our life, I understood that he had not yet made any report
to his father for our marriage and his father had strong objection to our marriage.

At that time, I got pregnant for 2 month.
My husband changed his mind due to strong objection of his father
and he said he did not want to continue the married life with me.
I was totally shocked and very disappointed and have no other choice to give up my baby
since he did not want a baby also.

I asked him to pay for airfare to go back to XXXX.
But he refused to pay for it and then, I had no way other than selling
the electric appliances we bought after marriage in the apartment.
I got small money, which is still not enough for me to go back to my hometown.
And I met my friend Ms. Z and stay in her house.
Now, I started to work another nightclub in Tokyo to earn money.
He is working in a small import trading company of computer devices in Tokyo.

The point of my protest:
1) The marriage was agreed between us after his confirmation of acceptance from his family
but actually it was a lie totally.
2) Even though his family is against our marriage, he can continue our married life by his
own decision, but he did not want it simply because of his father’s strong objection
and our married life was terminated only within three weeks due totally
to his sole responsibility.
3) I suffered mentally with sudden and unreasonable change of his mind
during such a short period of three weeks.
And physically I needed to do an abortion and I totally depressed by this fact
4) And I had no money when I needed to leave his apartment.
He refused to give any necessary expense to me for going back to XXXX
to proceed with the report of divorce in city office.
And I need to rely on my friend’s help to disclose my situation unwillingly.
5) The marriage ceremony was made in my hometown and everybody
including my family and relatives know about our marriage and then divorce
and I can not expect how big disadvantages it may cause to my future life in my hometown.

Please take note I explained him, for divorce report registration,
he needs to come to XXXX together with me but he refused it.
That is why we are still bounded legally as husband and wife now.
I would like to proceed with any legal action in XXXX,
during our marriage being legally effective
and I would like to divorce amicably by receiving his consolation money.
Considering of significance of my sufferings I experienced,
a cash settlement shall not be less than Japanese Yen 10,000,000.

I have no money to cover your legal expense and cost, therefore,
I would like to ask for your help by reimbursement on time of success basis.
Since marriage report and divorce report should have been or should be done in XXXX,
the applicable laws or any legal action should be taken in XXXX
and your report of such action shall be advised to them.

By taking legal action in XXXX, I believe they can not take any legal countermeasure
in Japan. I expect they do not want to come to XXXX and they may compromise
and try to settle it in some level, considering his father’s social status in Japan.

Your cordial understanding and any advise will be highly appreciated

Bar Mouy Ram

"Bar Mouy Ram" means "35" in Vietnam.

My colleague who was the age of 35 were always asked his age by the ladies
with unprocurable smiling faces.
He did not understand why they were smiling specially at him.
But there is an enough reason why they smile.

35 year old men are recognized to be in their rapture of sexual desires in Vietnam,
in another words, they are super naughty to girls.
This topic is written in many essays regarding culture and life of Vietnam.
Certainly, he was very aggressive by his actions to ladies at that time.

High school girls need to wear an traditional costume to go to schools,
which is "Aozai" or "Aoyai" in Vietnam.
It is like a China dress with long sleeves.
The color of the uniform should be pure white.
The material is polyester.
Therefore, in the strong sunlight, it looks transparent and like a see-through dress.
You can look bra and panty through "Aozai", while they are riding on the bicycles
on the streets.
The continuing flights of two or three bicycle girls in a group are passing through
the city square. They are breathtakingly cute and elegant.

My colleague was waiting for girls on the bicycle to come in front of him,
with his high-tech zoom camera holding in his hands in the city square.
And he told me,

" Look!"
"Their dresses are transparent since they are made of polyester."
"A dress made of silk with embroidery is expensive and students can not afford to."
"You can see bra and panty!"
"But it is strange why I can not see their nipples even by this camera?"

He did not know they are wearing nipple pads.
Bra is a sports bra and panty is a sports shorts.
They are well prepared to be watched by strangers with curiosity.

In a night, we were seven people walking down the street after dining
and drinking quite a lot.
Two ladies riding on one bike were approaching us.
And they were offering us to ride on the bike to visit their home for fun.
We ignored them.

Finally, they decided their target only to my colleague.
They took very strongly wrist of his left hand.

But suddenly, they gave up and run away.
My colleague said that,

"They like me best among us. Don't you think so?"
"Yes! You are No.1"

When we came to the corner of the street, he noticed something.

"I lost my watch."
"It should be stolen by them."

We all together, were laughing at him.
There is a quite simple reason why he is in their target,
since his arm is the most slender among us.

In the next night, he rode on the bike between other ladies
and disappeared in the darkness of the city, shouting that,

"I should recover the cost of my watch by my body."
Mr. Bar Muoy Ram, such a really naughty boy.
He is in his age of 35!

Shanghai Cocktail

Do you speak Chinese?
If you can, you understand the difference of Ton-chi and Shao-jei.

More than two decades ago, when you wanted a waitress to come to your table,
you needed to say "Ton-chi"(It means "a comrade" which is normally used in
the military police of the communist country of China.) instead of "Shao-jei"
(It means Miss., or a lady) in China.

It was the time before China has been ruled by open economic policy.
There was only one comfortable western style hotel in the city,
which was the Hilton International Shanghai.
The isolated sole skyscraper is in center of the city.
It was surrounded by thousands of shabby one-story wooden small houses and
was decorated by modern gorgeous interiors.
It was shining into the sky even with the black darkness of the night.
It is fusion of the west and east.
Strictly restricted place for foreigners only.
It seemed like an illusion in the hot mid summer.

At the bar on the rooftop, every foreigners in this city seemed like gathering.
It was like "a small United Nations".
Filipino duet played guitars and sang mellow western songs.
It was very exotic place I've ever visited.
I had already been stayed there for a month.

At one night I ordered a glass of Brady Mary as usual at the bar counter.
But when I tasted it, it smelt strange.

I asked the bartender, "What is this?"
He answered "As usual Sir."
I said, "No. You made it something wrong."
He said, "No. I did not."
"You tell me, otherwise, it is reported to the assistant manager."
"Ummm."
"I am sorry, we run short of Vodka imported from Russia. I suppose no bottle of Vodka
can be available until next month delivery."
"So I mixed Tequila from Cuba instead of Vodka."
"Goddum! You go to hell."

But actually, I have no other choice to enjoy it.
And I believe I am the first man to taste a Brady Mary with Tequila base.
It really smells!

From next day, I drank the same, and I got accustomed to its wild and ethnic taste
as I drank it more on every nights.

A month later, when I came to the same position of bar counter as usual,
an American talked with the bartender.

"Excuse me. I ordered Cuba Libre. What is this?"

I said to myself "Ah Ha!"

The bartender finally apologized to him. He mixed Vodka instead of Bacardi,
saying that

"I am sorry but we have no stock of Bacardi imported from Cuba."
"It takes another month for next shipment. So I used Vodka from Russia!"
"It should happen in China. I am sorry but no other way!"

Then, an American said, "You, Son of bitch!" but he could not resist drinking it.
On the contrary, my Mary came back to a taste of honey as before from a jade.

And I thought to myself, "It should take long for China Libre! "

A Jap and an old lady in US (Translation)

While I was traveling around the USA, I have ever experienced minor racial
discriminations toward me by the Americans.
It is not so apparently but it should be noticed by an ordinary person.
Especially, upper mid west cities or small towns in southern states
where small population of Asians lives, it is more evident.

I felt the Asians are still a part of "minority" in the American society
while the black people are to be real American citizen consisting of American
society together with the white.

In a good restaurant, where we need booking for a table and actually I booked
for the table before I came, I was disappointed to be in a waiting list.
And I looked that white people came after me were brought to a table.
I claimed to an usher. But he or she said,

" Sorry but we are preparing better seat for you sir!"

Actually we were brought to a seat with the tall back wall in a corner.
I agreed that such place must be comfortable for us.
But it seems that they don't want us to take a table in the center
where every guests can watch us.

In Minneapolis airport, business class waiting lounge, I was waiting for boarding time
of the flight to Regina in Central Canada.
I ordered "Campari with Grapefruits Juice" to a bartender.

"Please make me Campari with Grapefruits Juice"
"Say it again?"
"Please mix Campari with Grapefruits Juice."
"Okay"

Then, after a drink was served to me, he went to the corner and talked with
another American.
Their conversation were whispering each others, but I could hear them.

"Hey, a Jap is drinking Goddum Campari with Grapefruits Juice!"
"Can you imagine?"
"Jap drink anything, I looked a guy drinking whisky with green tea."

I said to myself,
Even for me, I never heard of "the green tea with whisky".
You are such a liar.
Anyway, I drank it keeping silent.

Then, an old but neat white lady in her 70s came next to me and took a seat
and asked me what I was drinking.
I said to her

"Campari with Grapefruits Juice!"

She ordered to the bartender,

"Same thing with him"

And she said that, "It is first time but my favorite taste."
and she send me a longer version of cute wink.

I received it with my smiling face and then went to the gate for boarding.
While I was walking, the flavor of the Cocktail still remained within my mouse,
but I felt it to turn out much more refreshing taste than before.

Religions and wives

Indonesia is located in the Far East and the most remote Islamic country from Mecca.
Non-Islamic people are minority but they are not forced to be Islamic.
Islamic people are generous about non-Islamic people.
So, they can live without receiving hard religious discrimination.

A few percentages of population have religious background of Hindu.
Four men including me gather at a restaurant in Jakarta.
They are talking about wives and their marriage status.

"Hey, you are Islamic, aren't you? How many wives do you have so far?"

"For me only one, but religion allows us to have maximum four wives."
"Actually, if we have four, it is very tough mentally, financially and physically
to treat them on equal basis."

"How about you? Are you Christian?"
"Yes. I am pious Roman Catholic and wife is only one for all of my life."

"How about you? You are Japanese, Japanese are Buddhist?"
"Most of Japanese are Buddhist.
Some people believe Shinto or Japanese original religion."
"But we are not so religious people in our basic nature."
"As legal registration, wife is only one."
"But some people want to have their own private wife additionally
and confidentially."

"How about you? You are Hindu, right?"
He is thinking by himself for a while.
"There is nothing written about wife in the discipline."
"So that it may be unlimited!"

The other men are thinking about three different things.
With his words, the Christian regards him as helpless.
The Islamic looks him with the eyes of sympathy.
Japanese (including me) look him with the eyes of envy?

Visitors! How about you?

p.s. The story is not aiming at criticisms or discriminations against
specific sex, races or religions.
