キャンベルスープ 世界的に有名なスープにアメリカ・キャンベル製がある。アンディ・ウォーホルが画いた、そうあのトマト缶詰の会社である。トマトジュースは結構好きで
若い頃良く飲んだ。あっさり系のカゴメよりこってり系のデルモンテが好きだった。そのキャンベルが１９８０年代、今ファンド乗っ取りで話題の明星食品と提携して、インスタントラーメンを米国で販売したことがある。このラーメンをアメリカの友人に送って貰い食べたが、明星”中華三昧醤油味“に匹敵する旨さだった。勿論トマトラーメンではない。ターゲットはアメリカ在住東洋系人種向けだが、ポーク味、ビーフ味、チキン味、オリエンタル味と４タイプあり、スープが抜群に旨かった。海外版のインスタントラーメンは１２ヵ国 位食べたが、日本近隣の中国、香港、台湾、韓国、シンガポールまでならどうにか食べられる。南北アメリカ、オーストラリア、ヨーロッパ系は国内生産より輸入だし、東洋人種向けだからまだ口に合わないまでも、口に近づく。口が遠のく食文化の違いをまざまざ見せ付けられるのは、常夏熱帯の東南アジア、 タイ、ベトナム、フィリピン、インドネシア、マレーシア。マダムビーズは 「樟脳の臭い」と表現したが、臭いも味もアクが強い。辛い以外に刺激も凄い。 日本人は個々の体臭を嫌い、毎夜風呂に入って無臭に近づけるが、他国では体臭こそが個性を主張する。痛烈な臭いと味でなければ認めない食文化が育っている。当時私が外国のインスタントラーメンのパッケージを見て目を丸くしたのは、鶏の骨付きモモ肉が一本のっていたり、蟹やら海老やら余りラーメンには縁のない食材が「どんなもんだ！」という風に、丼を賑わせていた。勿論写真は調理イメージで、大概の人は二束三文で買ったインスタントラーメンを素ラーメンで食べていることだろう。しかし、パッケージの写真を見ながら食べれば、ちょっとリッチな気分で食べられるかも知れない。そんな販促戦略があったのかな？我々戦後生まれはインスタントラーメンに、卵を落として食べるのがステータスだった。そうCMのチキンラーメンそのままに。それは親父に大衆風呂屋でいつも牛乳なのに、ある日コーヒー牛乳を飲ませて貰った喜びに近い。パンピーなら有頂天だった。僅かなバージョンアップは王様気分を満喫させてくれる。ラーメンは何でもありの食べ物で、何を載せてもどんなスープ でもラーメンはラーメンだ。決まりは無く自由自在に店主が創作すればいい。 現今は戦国時代真っ盛りで和食、洋食、イタリアン、フレンチ、食に無縁のアパレルまで業界に参入して、無国籍化しカテゴリーも何も無くなった。とにかく美味しいモノを創ったもん勝ちの、トーナメントゲームになったのである。これからもラーメン並びにインスタントラーメンの大いなる進化、七変化に期待したい。There is a one which is made at America Campbell at the flagrant soup, that Campbell is worldwide. 我々夫婦は牛飲馬食の譬えのような大食いではないけれど、この四文字熟語は意味深である。 これは我々に豚飲馬食を提示している。いくらか肥えているかも?などと決して 言葉では発せないマダムビｰズはベジタリアンの癖にラｰメンが好きである。 しかも共食い?は避けて肉類は一切食べないから、チャｰシュｰはいつも私の丼の中に放り込まれる。ヒキ肉もレンゲでドバッとくる。そして私の丼の中からメンマやワカメは あっという間に没収される。私はどんなラｰメンを頼んでもいつでもチャｰシュｰメンを食べられる利点がある。マダムビｰズが秘かに思っているらしい馬面型の私は、たまに 抜き打ちで｢この馬が・・・｣と罵声を浴びせられる。しかし、大人の私は決して売り言葉に買い言葉｢ナニ、この豚が・・・｣とは口が裂けても言わない。 仮面夫婦のような、鴛鴦夫婦のような、狐と狸の化かしあい。我々夫婦の豚のようにスｰプを飲み、馬の如く麺を食べる。他愛のないお話に乞うご期待下さい。We husband and wife is not a glutton like the simile of the cow drink horse food but this 4 character phrase is mind taste .
