群馬の来々軒
群馬県には来々軒を名乗る店が５軒ある。４７都道府県を単純に計算すると来々軒及びそれに似た名称のラーメン店は、全国に２００軒位あると思われる。来々軒という店名は
日本人が初めてラーメンを生業にした店のことで、明治４３年浅草で大繁盛した。
そこに目をつけた飲食業に知識と興味ある料理人が自分の地元で一旗あげようと、見よう
見まねでラーメン店を始めたと思われる。来々軒の創始者、金色夜叉 の作者と主人公を
ミックスしたような氏名の尾崎貫一氏は、この名称を商標登録しなかった。浜っ子は太っ腹だったのである。だから一時期この店名の幸運にあやかって、現在の予想数２００軒より遥かに超える倍近くの来々軒が存在したと思われる。趣きはちょっと違うが全国どこにでもある銀座通りみたいに軒並み乱立したのではないか。
来々軒はラーメン屋かと誤解される向きもあるが、れっきとした中国料理全般を手がける
中華料理店である。その証拠に電話帳のラーメン店の欄には余り多くは載っていない
ほとんどの来々軒は中華料理店の項目の中にある。店主には数多くのメニューを捌ける
技とプライドがあり、修行もたっぷり積んでいる。ラーメンはその一品にすぎない。
そこで私の聞いた今はない前橋来々軒本店の店歴を語ってみる。２００４．１２
現在前橋来々軒支店（創業昭和六年）店主二代目小川和夫さんが電話で答えてくれた。
以下は箇条書きで記す
・ 本店は大正七年に開業し、昭和３５年まであったが後継ぎがないため閉店した。
・ 場所は前橋市榎町。そこは現在パチンコ丸の内、白木屋になっている。
・ 店主は新里の人で東京品川のウドン屋で働いていた。
・ 従業員は中国人コック二人、出前専門、女給もいて２００坪の店だった。
・ 羽振りはよく現敷島、池下工業の所には厩舎があり調教師を雇い馬を飼っていた
群馬県は東京に近かったので流行は早く、処世は敏感に捉え、出店するラーメン屋も他県に比べて早かったと思う。証拠として写真資料でもあれば幸いなのだが、前橋や伊勢崎は
昭和２０．８空襲にあい全市の八割は焼土と化した。町家は壊滅的被害を蒙ったのである。
２００３．３．１８付け上毛新聞で群馬ラーメン史の情報を呼び掛けたが、一通の連絡も来なかった。高崎嘉多町にある萬来軒本店も大正１３年、屋台より始めて現在に至る老舗
である。昔ながらの中華そば、おいしいラーメンで私の友人のラーメンマニアはここの
ファンである。系列も二店舗兄弟が開業していると、萬来軒の暖簾を守る老夫婦が語っていた。来々軒支店と萬来軒本店の二軒はラーメン屋として群馬の誇りである。There are five shops which come to Rairaiken Gunma Prefecture in Gunma and call oneself .Rairaiken.
