Prized Possession

Today I taught a lesson about "Prized Possessions". When would you ever say "My prized possession is a keychain"? Never. Only in an English class. Other phrases that I've taught that I would never use:

¡ß¡¡How do you come to school? ¢Í¡¡¡û¡¡How do you get to school?
¡ß¡¡I come to school by bus. ¢Í¡¡¡û I take the bus to school.
¡ß¡¡We can see a pretty view there. ¢Í¡¡¡û¡¡It's really pretty there.
¡ß¡¡I'm fine thank you, and you?¡¡¢Í¡¡¡û¡¡I'm pretty good. How 'bout you?
¡ß¡¡I'm a member of the softball club. ¢Í¡¡¡û I'm on the softball team.

I don't understand why textbooks teach such stupid English!!!¡¡
