Prized Possession

Today I taught a lesson about "Prized Possessions". When would you ever say "My prized possession is a keychain"? Never. Only in an English class. Other phrases that I've taught that I would never use:

×　How do you come to school? ⇒　○　How do you get to school?
×　I come to school by bus. ⇒　○ I take the bus to school.
×　We can see a pretty view there. ⇒　○　It's really pretty there.
×　I'm fine thank you, and you?　⇒　○　I'm pretty good. How 'bout you?
×　I'm a member of the softball club. ⇒　○ I'm on the softball team.

I don't understand why textbooks teach such stupid English!!!

ナショナル・トレジャーis a little corny...

昨日、アイちゃんと『ナショナル・トレジャー』を見に行ってきました！

面白くてサスペンスフルだけど、ちょっと「corny」ですね。

私の辞書によるとcornyは「陳腐」とか「古くさい」という意味だそうです。「コーンな」って意味じゃないですよ。＾＾

映画によく使います。「This movie is too corny!」この映画はcorny過ぎる！

「Cheesey」もよく使います。Cornyの意味と似てるのだが、安っぽいと意味もあります。安っぽい製品や映画に使います。

☆☆☆皆さん一番cornyな映画は何だと思いますか？
★私は「トップガン」かな・・・

Englishクイズについて

Shasta Sensei, your the only one for me!　
正しいのは⇒　Shasta Sensei, you're the only one for me.　
多分日本人よりアメリカ人の方がよく間違える問題です。「your」 (あなたの）と「you are」（あなたは○○です）の違いに注意。（発音は一緒ですが）

Can't wait to come to America to meet you!
正しいのは⇒ Can't wait to go to America and see you! は一番自然なのかな？
2番は誰も選んでないってことは皆分かってるかな。

Are all these sentences gonna end with exclamation mark?!　
正しいのは⇒ Are all these sentences gonna end with exclamation marks?!
あるいは⇒ Are all these sentences gonna end with an exclamation mark?!
「exclamation mark」（またはexclamation point)は数えられる名詞だから、前に an がつくか後に s がつきます。

How am I supposed to know which sentence is correct?！！

I don't speak English and I hate your brog!!　
正しいのは⇒ I don't speak English and I hate your blog!!
文法的にはいい文です。ブログのスペルだけは間違っています。

間違えやすいEnglish③

"I'm thinking to go to Tokyo this weekend." このような文よく聞きます。でも正しいのは"I'm thinking about going to Tokyo this weekend."ですね。

☆be thinking about + 動詞ing ～☆
例：
①I'm thinking about seeing a movie tonight. 今夜、映画を見に行こうと思ってます。

②She's thinking about studying abroad next year.　彼女は来年外国に留学しようと思ってます。

③He's thinking about quitting his job.　　彼は会社を辞めようと思ってます。
