This day was the last day of trip I could stay in Wyoming. I left Motel, and I went to visitor center again because I could see “elk’s refugee” by using binoculars (binocular telescope) and talk to Wyoming people. It drizzled in the mornings, so I would not be able to see clearly them. Later, I went to National Museum of Wildlife Art which shows many paintings, pictures, and a movie. I could catch how difficult wildlife is. After seeing all of them, I ate lunch which a little bit expensive in the museum. For me, that was small amount of food, but taste was great, so I am satisfied with it. I bought one souvenir for me, and then I went to the airport. When I returned a car and paid rent-a-car fee, I found that I got 20% off from receipt because probably I used American driver’s license, not Japan’s. When I was waiting for my returning airplane, I recalled all events in Wyoming. I had never experienced fabulous, fascinating trip. I Never Forget This Trip!END. The day after my birthday, I spent time driving. My plan was to go to Riverton which
is 170 miles from Jackson. I left Motel at 8:30 a.m. On the way to Riverton I passed two cities. I mentioned two towns, but they were very small and I felt there were not proper places to live in. Also on the way, I saw the Sun first time in WY because the place I stayed was always cloudy and saw more amazing pictures than Grand Canyon in Arizona. I cannot explain, so let me show a couple of pictures. When I arrived at Riverton, I met a friend of mine who goes to college there. I told her in e-mail that I would call her when I got there. Unfortunately, my cell phone did not work…. So I directly went to her apartment. My heart was beating… finally I met her. She was typical Japanese, I reckon. After a while, she served me lunch. It was very healthy and delicious. And then we spent time only talking. Time flashes by. I thought I talked her only a couple of hours, but actually four hours passed. This means I really had a good time and I could experience anything over there. When I was back to Jackson, I saw spectacle gate which made by elk’s horns. After I left Grand Teton, I drove 40 minutes to Yellow Stone. Before entering it, I had to pass the toll gate which requires not only paying but also checking snow tires. After I passed gate, in the Yellow Stone, some part of its ground was covered with snow. It was the first time experience to drive with snow in the States. I did not feel fear for driving with snow because my hometown in Japan, there falls snow every year. By the way, there are several places to visit in Yellow Stone. Only I could stay there only 3 hours. This means I had to choose one place, so I chose Old Faithful. There are super active volcanoes. Do you know that Old Faith is the only “super” active volcanoes on the earth? Actually, there are many active volcanoes such as Kilauea in Hawaii and many dormant volcanoes such as Mt. Fuji in Japan. At Old Faithful, I saw geyser, bison (=buffalo) and elk (=bigger deer). Elk that I saw looked like god of Princess Mononoke movie. I saw funny scene that one bison had a scratch on his face. When I tried to go back, I could see one geyser spouted hot water. Anything I saw there was fabulous! I had a precious time! If I go there next time, I want to visit other places. I never forget this day, which is my 22nd year’s birthday. Picture1&2 – bison & bison had a scratch on his face Picture3 – elk Picture4 – spouted geyser To be continued…

I left at 8:30 a.m. the MOTEL. I thought this department was not earlier, yet it was a little bit earlier. Yesterday, I asked questions to visitor center officer about route, so I chose the route which I could see bison. Unfortunately, I could not see them through the route, but I took some amazing pictures. One is evaporating water from river! Next, I went to Moose Visitor Center and talked to one of officers (rangers). That time I wanted to go to see only one good one place, the officer told me to see two lakes; Taggart Lake and Bradley Lake. On the way to there, I must pay fee and through the toll gate. I talked one good woman ranger!! Then I went to there! I did not know how to go to see these lakes, so I talk to an American who lives in Wyoming and I followed him. I was the only stranger man because everybody at there wore ski ware. What wild animal I see first is deer. They were so sensitive. They found us about 30ft far and then they escaped. When I started walking about an hour, it was already 11a.m. and I wanted to go to Yellow Stone, so I quit walking to there, but I see Taggart Lake. As I mentioned before, I went to Wyoming State. I took two airplanes for one-way (Los Angeles Int'l Airport → Denver Int'l Airport, Denver Int'l Airport → Jackson Hole regional Airport (JAC),) and took about 4.5h flight. Interestingly, from Denver to JAC, I rode small airplane which had propeller and which capacity was only 45 people (The 1st picture.) I reserved a room at MOTEL through using particular Internet sites and I stayed in a town which name is Jackson. The weather was not good, not bad. When I arrived at JAC, I immediately went to Rent-a-car Company to pick up a car. I’m frequently using Enterprise, though it was not there, so I chose AVIS. My first impression is really colder than L.A., but I did not feel worth because I am from colder area in Japan. I went to MOTEL to check-in and went around this town. I like talking to people, so I went to visitor center firstly. There were big statues of elk and bear (The 2nd picture.) And then I went to Town Square. There were four gates made of elk’s horns. Those were fabulous! The Center of it there was statue, but I did not check carefully, so I will show you just a picture. (The 3rd and 4th pictures) At night, I was excited about next day, national park exploration. I went to bed earlier. To be continued… PS. I forgot my lesson when I went to Las Vegas… That is… to bring tooth brush. In the Hotel/Motel there is absolutely soap, but I should’ve brought my shampoo and body soap. |
