来週日曜日に投票するか、しないか？Are you going to vote next Sunday or not?

今回の東京都知事選挙にはがっかりしています。
投票したい候補者がひとりもいないのは、僕だけではないようです。
多くの友人たちも来週の日曜日に投票に行きたくないと言っています。
投票しないのも、意思表示のひとつかな？

I am disappointed in the upcoming election of the Governor of Tokyo.
There are no candidates for whom I would like to vote.
Many of my friends do not want to go to vote next Sunday.
Not to vote is one way of expressing yourself, I guess.

都知事選は二人の一騎討ち。Two men battle for Tokyo

東京都知事選挙は、細川さんと舛添さんの二人の一騎打ちに決まりましたね。
他の候補たちは、いてもいなくても大勢には影響ないので、出馬を断念されたほうが、無駄な出費を節約できるでしょう。

さて、細川さんか舛添さんか？
細川さん。
①　佐川からの１億円借金が亡霊として、付いて回るでしょう。特に猪瀬がお金で辞任した後だけに。
②　７５歳かあ。東京オリンピックの時には８２歳だ。大丈夫かなあ？

舛添さん。
①　自民党を批判して、除名された過去。
②　自民党も他に勝てる候補がいないというのも、人材不足。
③　表情と印象が固い。
④　国際性はあるかな？東京オリンピックがらみの外国との付き合いができるか？

他に候補者がいないのが、日本の悲劇か？

Two men battle for the Tokyo Governor race.
Other candidates can withdraw from the election to save money.

Hosokawa
① Loan from Sagawa will continue to haunt him. Especially after the previous Governor Inose resigned
because of money.
② 75 years old. He will be 82 when Tokyo will host the Olympics. Will he be all right?

Masuzoe
① He criticized LDP LDP fired him.
② LDP has no other candidates.
③ His face and impression are too stiff.
④ Is he globally minded? Can he be a good diplomat to other countries in conjunction with the Olympics?

Japan's tragedy; No other candidates!

舛添要一も細川護煕元もいまいち魅力を感じません。
舛添は暗すぎる。細川は佐川の亡霊がついている。
ほかの候補者は、立候補するに足らない。日弁連元会長とか元幕僚長とか発明家とか。

投票日にはゴルフに行って、その後で温泉にでも寄ってくることにしようという気にさせられるほど、
今回の都知事選挙は魅力に欠けますよね。

No candidates are attractive enough for the next governor of Tokyo.
On the election day, I shall go to play a round of golf and drop by a hot spring on my way back.

小池百合子東京都知事誕生か？Yuriko Koike, the new Governor of Tokyo?

いろいろなことを考えてみると、小池百合子が新東京都知事として、ふさわしいような気がしてきました。
大臣経験者で国際人。
猪瀬のような金銭的なトラブルもありそうに思えない。

ほかの候補は、ピンときません。

Considering all the factors, Yuriko Koike seems to be most suitable for the next Governor of Tokyo.
She has an experience of having been a Minster of Defense. She is also global.
She does not seem to have financial troubles like Inose.

Other candidates do not appeal to me.

猪瀬が辞めたら、次の候補がぞろぞろ出てきましたね。
下村文部科学大臣。
橋本聖子参議員。
舛添要一。
東国原英夫。

女性にやってもらったらいいかも。

私が１０年間日本代表としてお仕えしたマーガレット・サッチャー元英国首相は私にこうおっしゃいました。

「私たち女性は家計を切り盛りしてきた。男性たちよりももっと上手に国家財政も切り盛りできるわ！」
まったくその通りでしたね。サッチャーさんは見事に英国病を克服して、イギリスを経済大国にしました。

Inose is gone. Now, some candidates are appearing.
Shimomura: Minister of Education and Science
Seiko Hashimoto: Upper House member
Yoichi Masuzoe: ex-Minister of Welfare
Hideo Higashikokubaru: ex-Governor of Miyazaki Prefecture

A Lady Governor may be a good idea.
I served Lady Margaret Thatcher as her manager in Japan. She told me the following.
"We, women, know how to manage our house. We are better to manage the nation's money than men!"
Indeed, she revived the British Economy!
