中身、ドキュメンタリー「Dangerous days」に削除されたシーン集。
もんの凄く濃い内容です。本編よりも面白い。

やはり押井監督曰く、今回に限り「音声解説」に関してはさほど新しい情報は
ユニコーンのエピソード以外はなく、限りなく自慢大会に近い。
監督のコメントも最新作の話が多くあるイミ、期待は裏切らなかった。

ややミード師匠のコメンタリーが予算カットで実現しなかった話に
終止してしまっていたのは、やや残念。

何より見逃せないのが、シド・ミード自身が語る、エピソードの数々だ。
自らの仕事が後の映像作品や現実世界に与えた影響、彼以外には為しえなかったビッグプロジェクトの全貌、『ブレードランナー（1982）』、『トロン（1982）』を始めとする数々の傑作ＳＦ映画、その製作過程において、ミードのイメージがいかにして映像化されたのか……その舞台裏が明らかになる。





シド・ミード（Sydney.Jay Mead）「ビジュアル・フュ−チャリスト」。

SFジャンルの「ハードウエア・デザイナー」としては
世界的な第一人者として知られる。1933年生まれ。

米国フォード社でのカーデザインを皮切りに、インダストリアルデザイナーとしての腕を磨き、
数々の工業デザインを手がける。
1979年、初の画集『センチネル』を出版し、それと前後して、
ハリウッド映像作品にもデザイナーとして参加。
主なところでは、

『スタートレック』（1979年、監督：ロバート・ワイズ）
『トロン』（1982年、監督：スティーブン・リズバーガー）
『ブレードランナー』（1982年、監督：リドリー・スコット）
『エイリアン２』（1985年、監督：ジェームズ・キャメロン）
『ショート・サーキット』（1985年、監督：ジョン・バダム） などが挙げられる。

中でも、『ブレードランナー』において彼が提示した未来社会のコンセプトワークは、
その圧倒的な実在感と説得力で多方面から絶賛を受け、後のクリエイター・
SF映像作品に多大な影響を与えた。

日本でもその人気は高く、国内企業のポスターアートや大規模商業施設・
テーマパークのコンセプトデザイン、各種プロダクトデザインを担当。
さらにアニメーションの分野でも『∀ガンダム』の主要モビルスーツ、
『YAMATO2520』の宇宙戦艦といったハードウェアデザインを手がけている。
最近では「愛・地球博」で三井東芝館パビリオン映像「グランオデッセイ」の
宇宙船ネモニック号とその背景デザインを担当、好評を博した。

一昨日、やっとフラフラの状態で字幕版を観ました。
影のあるドキュメンタリーながらも
ポジティブにクリエイティビティーを発揮する氏の姿には
頭を殴られたような刺激でした。
ダンス・ウィズ・フィルムスで受賞するのも納得。

年明けに、送れて同梱される予定であった
クリスマスカードが送られて来ました。
ドットアニメさん、ありがとう。
オフィシャルより、若干小さいサイズなのですね。
でも嬉しかったです。
