英語格言シリーズ３５に対するnisyさんのコメントです。 ーーーーーーーーー 日本にも「泥棒にも三分の理」という諺がある。 これは「泥棒にも事情がある」という意と、理屈をこねればなんとでも 言い訳があるというようなイヤな意味がある。 ともあれ、 ・Nothing is so bad in which there is not something of good. 良いところが一つもないほど悪いものはない ということと、ものには二つの側面があると言うことも教えている。 ・Look on both sides of the shield. 盾の両面を見よ ・There are two sides to every story. ・Every medal has two sides. 悪魔の反対は ・There is no rose without a thorn. 「バラにトゲあり」かな ーーーーーーーー バラの挿絵もほぼそのまま使わせていただきました。 tad
