脚本でも俳優の演技でもなく、質感の妙でもって僕がカルト映画を選ぶとしたらこの作品がベストになるだろう。『死霊の罠』(1988年・日本)。自分的には、古きよき日本美の理想を映像化した溝口健二の『雨月物語』に対するアンチテーゼとして位置付けている。これは、小学生の頃の僕に、もし等身大の皮膚感覚と現代の感性を用いて「怪談映画」を作ればこんな風になるだろうと思わせた作品である。なぜなら、『雨月物語』に出てきたような「日本美」の結晶など現実にはどこを探してもありはしないことを、子供だったとはいえ、当時の僕はすでに心の片隅で知っていたから。近年もある新人映画監督たちが、日野日出志の代表作『蔵六の奇病』の世界を、現実世界と現代に置き換えて映像化に成功したと大見得を切っていたけれど、目の前にあるこの世界の一体どこに、あの「ねむり沼」のある森を位置付けるというのか。元々、『蔵六の奇病』の世界と「ねむり沼」とは切っても切り離せないものであったはずだ。それよりも、今この時代、この場所を生きている僕にとってもっともリアルな質感といえば、冷え冷えとしたコンクリートの手触りだったり、アスファルトのごつごつとした均一な無粋だったりする。『血肉の華』にも通じるその質感がこの映画にはある。（feel of a material in Japan of ｔhe present age）

80年代の邦画はどれもこれもホラー風な気もしますが、というのは日本人の気質の中には少なからずアンチヒューマンな領域が含まれているからと思うんですね。死に場所を選べて嬉しいとか血を流す喜びだとかは歴史的に刷り込まれているような気もします。因みに一連の石井隆作品に登場する自他問わず血を見ながら変な興奮の仕方をする女達はスプラッターだと思います。

いつもながら良いこと仰りますね。まさにその部分の復権と研究こそが必要なのだと常々感じております。
日本人の感性は今やかなり欧米化しているとはいえ、それでもやはり日本人の日本人たる感性というものはまだ残っているのでしょうか。だとしたら、別段「ホラー」に拘らなくともその感性はあちらこちらに滲み出てくるに違いありません。
そういえば蛇喰い女やかなまら祭も「アンチヒューマニズム」に属しますね。もちろん「残酷」と言う意味ではなく、もっと豊かでもっと広義な意味においてですが...
