今年の見世物小屋はデリシャスウィートスが引き継いだ。なお木戸銭は大寅興行の大姐さん。
公式ＨＰを公開中の見世物学会（日本で唯一の見世物研究機関）でも若い学会員が増加中。
http://misemonogakkai.web.fc2.com/ 特に昨年は仮設興行界にとって暗いニュースが多かった一方で、見世物小屋をはじめとする仮設興行の世界に関心が向けられる時勢なのだろうか。なお、晩秋に行われる今年の見世物学会総会のテーマは「人形」に決定。
ユネ●コの裏・世界無形文化遺産に認定された、蛇女・小雪太夫のマキツギ（悪食の実見）
との二部構成。（※けっして”実験”ではない）
連休前ということもあってか、例年を上回る人足で、ここ最近の興行の収支における記録を塗り替えたという。
例えば、見世物小屋のマキツギはそれを「残酷だカワイソウ」と批判するのは容易いが、万人に認められ得るものではない危うく際どい芸だからこそ魅力的なのである。（だからこそ風前の灯なのかもしれないが）。それを認める者と認めざる者との対話の機会は常に失うべきではないが、最終的にこの二者どちらかの意見に擦り寄
りみずからを変形させて生き延びるだけが是ではないことは案外忘れられがちだ。例えば「生きた蛇を食うのは衛生的ではないし誰かが真似をしたら危険だから”焼きヘビ”にして食べなさい」と厚生省から勧告されたとする。そういわれて果たして「ハイさいですか」と小雪嬢は受け入れるだろうか。そうすることで”合理的な芸・市民的な芸”として延命・庇護されることはできたとしても、そこにはもう僕らが憧れた見世物らしさはない。小人プロレスのよさを解せず「ああいうものはＴＶで放送すべきではない」と言う人間に小人プロレスの価値を解き、その者が満足するように小人達に着ぐるみを着せて戦わせることが理不尽でこの上なく歪なように（それはもはや小人プロレスではない）、譲れないものを譲るための対話であっては、少なくとも「見世物」にとってそれは”滅び”にすら劣る、”対話”という名の強制・堕落に過ぎない。たとえ健全な市民生活との軋轢に悩まされようとも、見世物小屋に生きる人々はここにみずからの”居場所”を見出し、力強く生きてきた。対話の果て、ギリギリ最後のところで「分からない奴には分からない」という意見に行き着くのが自然なのである。これは、そうやって生きてきた人が獲得した言葉として他には換え難い重みがある。（なおインドでは、みずからの身体を鞭で叩きその様子を見世物にして先祖代々暮らしてきた大衆芸能一家が、近代化を推し進める政府の「非近代的である」という一言でお家おとり潰しとなった事実がある。）いつも口当たりの良い正論しか吐けない人間は少なくとも、ものの見方や価値はひとつだけとは限らないということを自戒するべきだろう。（The Sideshow in Mitama fes of Yasukuni shrine）

「コレ（自分への批判）書いた社は終わりだから」と、某（元）大臣に脅迫まがいに当てつけられ、当初その発言を一切問題視しようとしなかった報道機関って存在価値あるの？
公平と独立がジャーナリズムの根本原理なら、その出自自体を見下され、嘗めきられた発言に対して、なんら反論しようとしなかった自称ジャーナリストの方々には今すぐ墨汁で顔を洗ってもらいたい。彼らが保身のために緘口令に従い、（元）大臣のあの発言が公表されないままであったとしたら、国民は一切を知らないまま、今なお不適格な人物が大臣の椅子に座り続けていた危険性があった訳だ。公平中立と客観的な事実の報道を金果玉条としていたにも拘らず、そのポリシーが彼ら自身の手によって我々の知らぬ間に歪められ、曲解されていた事実が露呈した以上、彼らがふたたびその信頼を取り戻す術は、今すぐペンを折るか、あるいはオーソン・ウェルズが１９３８年の１０月３０日にＣＢＳのラジオ放送で公開した「火星人の襲来」のような架空実況を今すぐ生中継することしかない。

著『世界
の怪獣』。
昭和４５（１９７０）年、秋田書店から出された児童向けの怪奇書だ。いわゆる怪獣図鑑だが、特筆すべきはルポタージュ風の体裁をとっているそのテキストである。怪獣の出現場所、日時、犠牲者などが詳しいレポートで記載されている。今でいうところの擬似ドキュメントの走りであり、今のようにインターネットの環境など整っていなかった当時としては、世界はもっと広く、謎に満ちていたともいえる。本書は、夢想と現実との区別が曖昧な成長期の子供にとっては、情操教育に最適な教材であったと言えるかもしれないし、別の意味においてはとんでもない劇物だったと言えるのかもしれない。個人的にも、小学生の頃はいわゆる「映画」を始めとする”フィクション”嫌いであった自分史を紐解く上でもなかなか興味深い。かくゆう僕も小学生時代、多くの映画や文学作品には関心が沸き辛かったにも関わらず、偏屈にもこれらの本には大いに刺激を受け、「これじゃうっかり外も歩けないな〜」と半ば以上信じ、更には自分自身の手でお手製の怪獣図鑑を作ってはせっせと書き継いでいた覚えがある。こういった擬似ドキュメントの手法を用いたマスターピースを歴史的に位置づけてみると、「モンド映画」と呼ばれた『世界残酷物語』が封切りされたのが１９６２年、日野日出志が『地獄の子守唄』を描いたのが１９７０年。演劇の世界においても、意図的に舞台と客席とのボーダーを曖昧にし、取り払おうとする試みが多くなされており、唐組の赤テントや劇団天井桟敷が隆盛を極めた。この頃の児童書の語り口には、虚実の狭間を自在に行き来する土着の説話や、見世物小屋の泣きタンカをも髣髴とさせずにはいられない独特の味わいがある。回春怪獣。甘美な懐かしさを追い求め一週間ほど前に購入。（”Monsters in the world” Toshiya Nakaoka）
