czech couple on the train

i met a couple on the train to vienna.

they are originally from prague, czech,
now live in tront, canada.
both of them are retired and are having 5 weeks holiday.
they visit prague every year,
and they were on the way to vienna.

we cross the border between czech and austria.
then she said before czech became czech republic,
she, as a refugee, was scared to cross that border
because there were soldiers to watch
nobody can escape from the train.

i don't know much about that history.
but i felt it wasn't that long time ago.

train trip showed me small but real world in europe.

ども。ヴィエナって響きが懐かしいですね。日本人には耳なじみがいないですよね。ウィーンとは結びつきません。イギリスだけにいるとピンとこないけど、地続きの国々では、いろいろな軋轢があることがわかりますよね。イギリスに来ていた「カタルーニャ」の16歳の女の子は、自分はスペイン人じゃなくてカタルーニャ人だと言っていました。
