宝石化アンモナイト アンモライト ＃6

宝石化したアンモナイト、それがアンモライトです。カナダのアルバータ産のものが有名ですが、米国サウスダコタからも産出します。カナダ産のもののほうが有名では有りますが、米国産は圧縮が少ないと言われており、実際にその通りだと思います。地権者に採掘がコントロールされているのか資源が枯渇しているのかは判りませんが、姿物の産出は減っているようです。

本品のような赤色が最も多いですが、発色の綺麗なものはあまりなく、大抵は特定の角度から強い光を当てて初めて鈍く光ります。この品のよいところは、その点強く色が出ており、また色も赤のみならず青、緑など多様な色が出ているところです。

一部極端に細くなっているところが有り、その部分は母岩から取り出す際に脱落、復元して最接着しているようです。

小ぶりですが、ジェムグレードに近いです。持っているものの中ではおそらく1〜2番目に良いものです。

澄江 マイクロディクティオン

澄江を代表する有爪類、マイクロディクティオンです。
小ぶりではありますが、保存状態の麺で最上級の個体です。
最早このクラスの標本は現実的に入手できないと思います。

Microdictyon sinicum
Cambrian/ Haikou, Chengjiang, Yunnan, China.

This is very famous lobopod in Chengjiang fauna, Microdictyon. Being relatively small but easily one of the greatest ever seen in preservation. We guess specimens this quality cannot be so easily come by today.

澄江 エオレドリキア

これまで手にしたものの中で最も完璧なエオレドリキアの一つです。背中から後方に棘が伸びる棘が保存されている事は大変珍しいです。素晴らしい？のは、棘がややゆがんだ方向に折れ曲がっており、棘が保存されていながら尾板が露出している事です。唯一の欠点は右側の頬棘の保存が途中から極端に悪くなっている事です（存在自体はあります）。凹面には、触覚も保存されており、背中の棘は根元付近は立体的に、先に行くほど平面的に押しつぶされています。

もう一つの見所は、同じプレートの上に大きなユンナノセファルスが載っている事です。保存状態も良いです。実は生痕化石らしき痕跡もあります（どこでしょう？）。

2枚目：タガネによるラフクリーニング　エアツールで大面積のクリーニングは困難なので、特に三葉虫の場合はタガネで可能な限り掘ります。この標本は、衝撃を与えると壊れそうな部分が多く、あまり掘れませんでした。右の頬棘は断念しました。
3枚目：エアツールによる仕上げ　右の頬棘は保存が物凄く悪い（溶けているような感じ）が判りました。軟体部を保存しているほど保存は良いのですが…


This is one of the most perfect Eoredlichia specimen ever obtained to date, long spine on its back is relatively rare. The pygidium can be exposed since the long spine is preserved obliquely. Preservation of the right genal spine is not so good and this is the only defect on this specimen. Also preserved both anntena on the concave part, right one is nearly perfect. Long spine on the back can be seen that it is very three dimentional on the root and compressed tip.
Additionally, this specimen have big Yunnnanocephalus trilobite. Also a trace fossil.

pic2: after rough cleaning using treutic chisel: cleaning wider part by air is difficult to do especially trilobites so its better to do as much digging as possible by this classic means. But this specimen cannot accept it due to existence of some fragile parts. I abandoned to prep right genal spine.

澄江 レアンコイリア・イレセブローサ

澄江において、レアンコイリアは珍しいものではありません。保存の良い標本は、長いムチ状の腕が埋まっている可能性が高いです。ただ、パカッと割ってそのまますべてのヒレ、腕がすべて露出しているケースはとても珍しいです。澄江の石も頁岩のように、剥がれやすい面がありますが、化石全体が平面状に押しつぶされている事、その面に綺麗に乗っかっていなければ、このような化石となる可能性は低くなります。

Leanchoilia is not rare in Chengjiang. Good specimen can preserve whip-like arms beneath the surface of its matrix. But it is very rare that a specimen fully exposes arms and all puddles just after split. Like shale fossils, Chengjiang rocks have easy to split faces, such specimen should be completely compressed to completely two dimensionally and the fossil located in easy to split surface.

三葉虫 UK Remopleuridid

原始的なTelephinidの標本で、完全体はほぼ発掘されないような希産種であるとのことです。遊泳性だったからか、三葉虫らしからぬ細長い胴体とU字形の眼、長い２本の棘がとても印象的です。画像では判りにくいですが、この手の標本としては結構大きいです。複眼はありませんが、保存はとてもよく、かつ三次元的に保存されています（細い体躯は平面的ではなくチューブ状になっています）。Telephinaの復元図そのままの姿、というよりはさらに異様な姿をしており、本当にこんな標本が存在するのかと驚かされます。

Preserved with a whitish calcareous test in places, this almost certainly gave rise to the later Telephina of the Lower Caradocian and later to the true Remopleuridids evolving through the later Caradocian and Ashgillian. Astonishing large eyes (although with the occular detail corroded), a rudimentary opisthothorax and long genal and thoraxic spines.
