ウミグモ 背中から見た標本
ブンデンバッハでは、合計4種の標本が知られているそうですが、当方はうち2種しか見た事がありません。ブンデンバッハの標本は流石にデボン紀という事で数十センチ級も多く、カンブリア紀に比べ巨大な節足動物が多いのですが、ウミグモはブンデンバッハを通じて最大級の標本となります。本標本も30cmオーバーの巨体ですが、この大きさはブンデンバッハのウミグモとしてはごく普通の大きさです。ただ、ブンデンバッハの石は屋根瓦（スレート）として使われている都合上、採掘時に40cm四方程度に切断されているケースが多いと聞いており、完全な個体は手に入りにくいかもしれません。
写真で写っているのは殆ど肢で、中央部に小さな胴体があります。右側が頭部、左側が尾部で、胴体には明瞭な体節が観察できます。他に胴体部では、肢の付け根辺りの構造が生々しく保存されており、よく観察できます。この標本の素晴らしいところは、肢の方向にあります。この標本だけでは判りにくいですが、この手のウミグモの足は、生前から平べったい構造をしており、肢が平たい方向に寝た状態で保存されている事が殆どです。この標本は、肢の何本かが肢を立てた状態で保存されており、平たい構造が良く判ります。それぞれの肢の内側には、捕食用と思われる細かい棘がついています。

In Bundenbach, four species of Sea spiders are known but I have seen only two and this one is the most common. In Bundenbach, many massive Devonian specimens have a length of dozens centimeters, much bigger than specimen in Cambrian arthropods. But seas piders are one of the largest in whole Bundenbach animals. This one is as large as over thirty centimeters in length, but this large is common as this kind of specimen, however, most of Bundenbach slates seem to be trimmed to around fourty square centimeters in most cases. So, very complete specimens may be relatively hard to come by.
In this picture, most of animal comprised by very large limbs, and there is relatively small, elongated body very centre of the animal. Rightward is head left is tail. We can see clear segment line in its body, and also detailed structure of roots of limbs. What this specimen so special is attitude of limbs. Bundenbach sea spiders such like this have flattened limbs in nature, not flattned in or after fossilized process, preserved limb this thin attitude is relatively rare. And incide of each limb have many spines clearly visible, they may be for prey other animals. Palaeoisopus problematicus;
