ブンデンバッハ 三葉虫コテコプス 立体的な個体

コテコプス：非常に立体的に保存された標本
ブンデンバッハで最も一般的な三葉虫、コテコプスです。コテコプスは大きな標本も多いですがコイツは圧巻です。長さは8cm強と、ちょっと大きめくらいですが、横幅が大きく、何より非常に立体的に保存されています。化石表面は金属光沢をもち金色に輝いていますが、パイライトの含有率が高いのも有るでしょうが、ひょっとすると真鍮ブラシでクリーニングされた名残かも知れません。真っ黒な奇妙な母岩に金属で出来た綺麗過ぎる三葉虫が乗っかっているのを見ても、化石に詳しくない人はこれが化石だとは信じないでしょう。保存状態は非常に良好で、ひょっとすると軟体部も保存されているかもしれませんが、少なくともこの状態では判りません。頭の鼻の部分が若干窪んでいますが、これは大型の魚のバイトマークである可能性が有るようです。

Chotecops: A specimen preserved in very 3D
This species Chotecops ferdinandi is the most common in Bundenbach slate, and this one is quite impressive in its size. Its length is near 8cm, slightly larger than average, but width is also very wide and more importantly this one preserved very 3D(less compressed than other species), such 3D specimen this size is relatively rare in Bundenbach trilobite. Brightly shining surface have golod colour, this is because not only fossil is composed of Pyrite but also it may be prepped by brass brush. Some people who do not very familiar with fossils may not believe tihs golden trilobite in jet black matrix is real fossil specimen. Preservation is very good and may be also intact soft tissue just beneath the carapace, but I'm not sure. In Grabella area narrow area has been concaved, this may due to bitten by large Devonian fish.
