意識の進歩のために

人間は、何故過ちを犯すのでしょうか？

 

それは、その過ちによって、意識を進歩させるためです。知能、身体能力、性格は、残念ながら遺伝（カルマ）によって、その限界はほぼ確定しています。

 

しかし、失敗をすることにより、結果として意識を進歩させる可能性を持ちます。そして無限の進歩の可能性を有します。

自我の駆け引きと憎しみ（5）

個人的と、集合的のどちらも、意識の進歩は、選択によって漸進的（だんだんだんと進む）であるという理由で、過去は、現在に比べると見劣りするように見えます。教訓は、連続的展開を超え経験を重ねてのみ、学ぶ事が出来ます。ゆえに、仮説に基づき知ることが出来たものは、たいていもっと沢山あります。人間は、50才で次第に増えた情報を、25才の時点で、実際に知ることは出来ません。誰もが、「もし、これを知っていたならば、それは違った方法を選択できただろう」と思います。従って、すべての与えられた瞬間に、謙虚に、限界があるように見えるでしょう。現在あるものは、過去にはなかったものです。誤りは、人間の条件そのものの運命である本質的な学びの課程に存在しています。知性は、限界があるという自覚によって、生きてゆく上で、推測（根拠のある推測）を代用することによって補われ、その上で、ソクラテスの格言にあるように、選択と決断は、外見上、最善の選択によって基づき行われています。

Because the evolution of consciousness,both individually and collectively, is progressive, the past, by selection, appearsto compare unfavorably with the present. Lesson can be learned only by theunfolding of experience over a time continuum; thus, there is always more thathypothetically could be known. In reality, one cannot know at age twenty-fivethe information that is accrued by age fifty. Everyone thinks, “If I had onlyknown that, I would have done it differently.” Thus, with humility, it can beseen that every given moment includes limitation. What we were is not what weare now. Mistakes are intrinsic to the learning process, which in the fate ofthe human condition itself. Because the mind’s awareness in limited, itcompensates by substituting presumptions (an educated guess) and therefore,operationally, choices and decisions are based the seemingly best option, asstated by Socrates’ dictum.
