エアフォース社コンドル空気銃口径５．５mm単発２４インチ銃身

写真だけ見ると「その辺で買ってきました」みたいなとってつけたような感じですが、威力はプラスチックBB弾を使用するエアガンよりも確実に数十倍あります。しかも鉛弾を使用しますから、撃つ対象物には確実な致命傷を負わせることを目的にしています。したがって、これは空気銃というなんとなく軽い雰囲気とは全然違っていて確実に「鉄砲」という意識を持たなくちゃならない。

銃砲店のファーイーストガンセールスにベレッタ６８６Ｅを注文した際、なんとはなしに空気銃についてたずねたことがきっかけでした。

「コンドルは要予約です。３ヶ月待ちですから、予約だけしときますか。いつでもキャンセルできますし。」
それでは、ということになった。

それから２ヶ月が過ぎ、１２月に入ってコンドル到着との連絡を頂戴しても、本当に買うかどうか迷っていた。対応する射撃場が近くにはないので「わざわざ」練習にいかなければならなかったし、買っても周辺部品点数が多い銃なので、値段通りにはならないだろうし。スコープなんか、それこそ星の数くらいある。弾の重さやエアの量を調整する作業だってスゴク気を使わなくちゃならない。
どうやら空気銃は、散弾銃みたいにはいかないらしい。その膨大な手間隙に自分は果たして耐えられるだろうか？

と、悩みを打ち明けた先が実はハンター保険を加入したセファジャパン。

ちょっと表現が違うな。正確には、ハンター保険に加入するメールをやりとりしながら鉄砲談義に花が咲き乱れてしまった。
セファジャパンの小澤社長も鉄砲には信条があり、師走の超激多忙にもかかわらず的確なコメントや丁寧な心配りを頂戴した。本当に世話になった。今ではわかるけれど、例えばウィンタースポーツ店に行って「このスキー買いたいんだけど、３０センチのストックってないの？」みたいなバカ野郎な質問にも辛抱して答えていただいた。

メールだけで銃砲店を判断するのはどうかと思うけど、情報の隔絶された田舎モノにはこのネット社会は本当に色々あって楽しい。ファーイーストも一流ホテルのコンシェルジェみたいなサポートがある。宿泊客のちょっとポイントのずれたニーズにもすばやく把握して必要な情報だけを選りすぐって教えてくれる。セファジャパンは馴染みのショットバーにいる博識バーテンダーみたな存在だ。さっきも書いたけど、ぐでんぐでんの客がいても楽しく盛り上げてくれる。サービスって本当に色々な形があるもんだ。

写真はスコープの取り付け風景。補器類はセファジャパンから購入させていただいた。
かなり間違った知識かもしれないけど、ネジの役割って純粋に金属の伸び率だけでホールドするのであって、噛み込みや摩擦は締め付けトルクにとって有害なだけである。これを解消する方法はねじ山のグリスアップ。グリス付けると緩んできそうで怖いイメージがありますよね。でも車のホイールボルトにつけてトルク管理していると、季節で交換するときにわりと強めに食い込んでいるのがわかります。

レールベースのサビだらけのネジ山を丁寧にふき取って一本づつグリスをつける。銃の重心にマークテープを貼り、ベースとスコープも重心を計る。レールベースをエンジンヘッドカバー取り付けみたいな順序で均一にトルクをかけて銃に固定してやる。ある程度スライドできる位置で重心のズレを修正する。スコープマウントのネジも全部グリスアップする。

ここで問題発生。スコープマウントの仕様が微妙に違う。どっちが前なの？
年末の忙しい時にスコープ取り付ける奴もどうかと思うけど、頭を下げてセファジャパンに電話して教えていただいた。

何度も銃を構えてみて、目の位置を一番自然な部分にもってくる。そしてスコープの位置を決める。
