Prince Hisahito meets Emperor, Empress
Prince Hisahito, the son of Prince and Princess Akishino, turned one year old on Thursday. He met with the Emperor and Empress in the morning.
Prince Hisahito is the son of the Imperial couple's second son, Prince Akishino. Along with his mother, Princess Kiko, the young prince visited the Imperial Palace to meet with his grandparents.
Asked by reporters whether the prince has started to talk, Princess Kiko smiled and said "a little."
Prince Hisashito is now 75 centimeters tall and weighs 9.3 kilograms. Although he suffered a mild cold in the winter, he has never had a fever or taken medicine. He is not afraid of strangers, and he does not cry at night.
Prince Hisahito is now eating baby food 3 times a day, and 2 upper and 2 lower front teeth have started to grow. He can now stand for a while and walk while holding onto to something, and can crawl up a stairway.
The Emperor and Empress presented a special doll to the young prince as a birthday gift. A birthday party is being held in the afternoon.
