After living in Los Angeles for about three years, Bob Bogle felt he had learned enough to start his own record label. In addition to trying for a hit record of his own, Bob wanted to help other musicians to break into popular music. In th fall of 1962, he started Unity Records by obtaining office space in the Liberty annex and designing an emblem depicting a sword-wielding fist on a blue-green background. His first customers were Pat and Lolly Vasquez, a pair of talented Mexican-Native Amwrican brothers who had worked as studio musicians after touring with the Jimmy Clanton band. Bob had met Pat in July when he played bass on a Ventures session.
Recording under the surname "Vegas," Pat sang That Smile b/w The Best Girl in the World
[Unity CP-2113]. The Vegas brothers harmonized well, and Lolly played a respectable leadguitar backed by Pat on bass, The record was placed in a few stores, but did not get much action. On their way to fame and fortune, the brothers would encounter The Ventures yet again, and waok with Josie as well. Arranged by Bob Bogle.

From "Walk Don't Run The Story of The Ventures by Del Halterman"
Josie recalls that, as an independent producer, one of her clients was James A. Christiansen;Jim had a beautiful singing voice with an amazing range. We recorded him doing his own song called Sylvie, at which time he wished to be billed as Chris Christiansen and the Sundowners [Sylvie b/w Daddy Rollem' Unity CP-2116]. We had also recorded him doing a song I had written called Destiny, which he backed with Sylvie for a later release [Imperial 66062,1964]. Don had always loved Jim's recordings;saying that I had done a good job, but i guess it was not the right music or the right time. Don finally sang Destiny on his own country album with the title changed The Wind Blows East. I'm not sure who made that decision, but i Wasn't thrilled about it.
