R.W.スミス氏の作品。合衆国空軍リザーブ・バンド(N.R.クラーク隊長）の委嘱により、その50周年を祝うレコーディングのために作曲されたそうである。いわゆるコンサート・オープナーの明るい色調の作品である。冒頭のファンファーレ部分のみを抽出して演奏しても面白そう。
